I presented the lectures you have commented on and it was kind of you to be complimentary about them. You stated that I made some mistakes particularly that Irving Berlin composed on the Black keys. As I'm sure you will appreciate I take great care to ensure that my facts are correct and I would refer you to the undermentioned web sites both of which confirm that Berlin composed on the Black notes. Indeed Lawrence Bergreen in his admirable book entitled "As Thousands Cheer - The Life of Irving Berlin" devotes two pages to the transposing piano and Berlin's insistence on playing in the Key of F# i.e.mainly using the black notes. I am always pleased to be corrected when I am found to be in error and I would be grateful to know what other information you found to be wrong so that I can correct it for the future Roy Hunt ***********picklehead****/ian/ian_irving.html ***********straightdope****/columns/read/2664/if-irving-berlin-could-not-read-or-write-how-did-he-compose
