Carl Richey of Fort Myers died on Oct.15, 2009 after a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was 74.
Carl was born in Chicago, Ill. to Julia (Steckelman) and Lee Richey on Nov. 18, 1934. He graduated from Greenfield High School in Greenfield, Ind. in 1953, then attended Butler University in Indiana completing his education with a BBA at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. He married Myrna May Mandl, June 30, 1956 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He had a life-long career in business management, primarily in the beverage industry.
A member of St. Isabel's Catholic Church in Sanibel, he had a hugh passion for life and enjoyed, traveling, golf and tennis.
Carl is survived by his children - Robert Richey and his wife, Shawn, of Savage, Minn., John Richey and his wife, Lydia, of Benbrook, Texas, William Richey and his wife, Ronda, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Paul Richey and his wife, Angela, of Ferrisburgh, Vt., Linda Cockerham and her husband, Garry, of Mansfield, Texas, Christopher Richey, and his wife, Jenny, of Wauwatosa, Wisc.; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters - Florence Lee, Julia May, and Mary; and five brothers - William, Henry, James, Harold, and Michael.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mickey, and a brother, Robert.
A memorial service will be held at St Isabel Catholic Church on Sanibel on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. His final resting place will be in the grotto lake on the church grounds along with is beloved wife Myrna May "Mickey."
