William Fero

William Nielson Fero succumbed to congestive heart failure on March 29, 2011. He was 85.



Born in Waterford, N.Y., he attended Waterford High School, where he lettered in basketball, baseball and bowling. He was a United States Marine. He retired to Sanibel Island after a long career with Niagara Mohawk Power Company.



He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Fero of Ft. Myers, two daughters, Cynthia Fero Derrick of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Susan Fero Kochem of Dallas, Texas, a brother, Arthur Fero, Sr. of Crystal River, Fla., two nephews, Arthur Fero Jr., of Pleasantdale, N.Y., and Edward Fero of Nyskeuna, N.Y., two nieces Marcella Proctor of Charlton, N.Y., and Joanne Ray of Illion, N.Y. Five step-children, Mary Lynne Miller of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Janet Keneston of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Francis Dayton of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Kevin Dayton of Sarasota, Fla. and Daniel Dayton of Troy, N.Y.



A memorial service will be held on April 9 at 1:30 p.m. at National Cremation and Burial Society, 3453 Hancock Ridge Parkway, North Fort Myers. Condolences may be offered at www.nationalcremation.com.
