Max Whaley Anderson, 84, of Fort Myers passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012. Officially passed away due to heart failure, but family and friends know it was because of a broken heart after Barbara, his wife of 63 years, passed away May 7, 2012. His dear sons, Rex and Randy, preceded him in death as well as his older brother Rex.
Anderson was born June 8, 1928 to Charlotte and Frank Anderson in Wichita, Kan. He was a fireman with the Wichita Fire Dept. and after 30 years of service retired as Fire Marshal. He moved to Sanibel Island in 1978, hired by the City of Sanibel as building inspector and retired after 19 years as the building official. After retirement from the Building Dept., Max served as "building consultant" for CHR projects Casa Mariposa and Woodhaven. Max is often described as very kind and always fair.
He is survived by grandchildren Bryan Anderson of Port Charlotte, Fla., Adrienne Anderson and Eric Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.; Sara (Justin) Bird of Augusta, Kan.; five great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Linda Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.; sister Fran Crow of New Castle, Ind.; sisters-in-law Judy Dilley of Wichita and Joyce (Mike) Rehr of Sanibel. Max was a member of Southwest Baptist Church.

Services are Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. Viewing/visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home, 12777 SR 82, Fort Myers.
