F.I.S.H. program director Christine Swiersz won the Good Samaritan category at the Elaine McLaughlin E-Awards ceremony on Sept. 12 at the Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers.

This prestigious annual event celebrates the best customer service professionals in Southwest Florida. It is named after Elaine McLaughlin, a former executive director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

As program director Swiersz is responsible for case management at F.I.S.H. (Friends In Service Here) evaluating and facilitating solutions for the needs of clients. She joined F.I.S.H. in 2010, is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Florida and holds a master of social work degree from Florida State University.

F.I.S.H. president Bill Fellows said, "Christine has done a wonderful job forging relationships with over 30 agencies throughout Lee County. She had been able to bring to the islands a wide variety of additional services that, for example, provide F.I.S.H. clients with health and nutrition education, memory screening, elderly fall prevention and a Mom and Toddlers group. She has broadened the scope of our work so that we are able to help clients with their ever widening range of needs in these difficult times."

The 12th annual awards program had 585 nominations from visitors, residents and co-workers, representing dozens of businesses throughout Lee County.

Maggi Feiner, executive director of F.I.S.H., said, "We are delighted that Christine, who does so much outstanding work for our clients, has been honored by this award. On behalf of the Board of F.I.S.H., our 200 volunteers and all of our clients, we salute Christine for the great job she is doing."
