To the Editor:
On Election Day, the lines were long and the complaints were plenty.
But, my hat's off to all the people at Sanibel Community Church. They taught all of us, as we slowly advanced to the voting stations, some in two hours, some a lot longer, what a church, when it is a public host, can be.
If you were there, you saw it. Getting out chairs for some of the old people. Putting up giant umbrellas, luckily, even before the great rain onslaught. And they, with smiles, brought out water and coffee. Latter there were muffins. But the whole day, so much more thoughtful kindness.
With deep gratitude from all of us who had been there. Thanks Sanibel Community Church, thanks.
