Beach Chamber looking for boat parade entries

The Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for additional decorated entries for its 24th annual boat parade on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Boat owners interested in participating are asked to register by calling or visiting the Chamber at (239) 454-7500. Registration forms also are available at

All sizes and types of boats are eligible to enter. There is a $25 fee for boats and $50 fee for corporate sponsored boats.

Salty Sam's Marina is offering free overnight dockage to all participating boats with advance registration based on availability. Call the marina for advance reservations at (239) 463-7333.

The line-up for the parade begins at 5:45 p.m. at Salty Sam's Marina, with the parade starting at 6:10 p.m. The parade will be led by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus on the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce boat, which is being sponsored by Fish Tale Marina.

Prizes are awarded to the winners in a variety of categories. Decorated boats are judged by celebrity judges Lindsay Logue, Robert Van Winkle, Kelly Creswell and Fort Myers Beach Mayor Bob Raymond. Winners will be announced in each category at the Winners' Circle Party at Salty Sam's Marina immediately following the parade.
