South Florida PGA once again is conducting the pre- and event qualifiers for the Champions Tour ACE Group Classic, which is scheduled on Feb. 11-17 at The Club at Twin Eagles in Naples.
Individuals interested in a chance to qualify to play in The ACE Group Classic must register and successfully compete in an 18-hole stroke play pre-qualifier on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero in order to move on to the event qualifier. The pre-qualifier is open to all amateurs and professionals aged 50-plus or turning 50 by the date of the pre-qualifier. The field is limited to 144 players. All entries will be prioritized on a first-come-first-served basis.
The low five scorers from the pre-qualifier will gain entry into the event qualifier, on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Old Corkscrew Golf Club. The event qualifier competition also is an 18-hole stroke play competition with as many as the low seven scorers advancing to the tournament proper the exact number of qualifiers will be posted prior to the commencement of play of the event qualifier.
The event qualifier is open to professionals only, age 50 and over. Amateurs are permitted to enter and compete in pre-qualifying and maintain his/her status. However, should an amateur in the pre-qualifier successfully qualify for the event qualifier, he or she must forfeit their amateur status prior to the event qualifier. Amateurs who become professional specifically to enter event qualifying and are not successful in qualifying may apply to the USGA for reinstatement of amateur status.
The entry fee for the ACE Group Championship pre-qualifier is $220. Players advancing to the event qualifier are not subject to an additional fee. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4.
