More than $700,000 has been raised by the Boston Red Sox for Lee Memorial Health System Foundation and Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida through the Children's Hospital Celebrity Golf Classic and Diamond Dinner events in the last month.

Proceeds from the events were matched dollar-for-dollar by longtime matching sponsors Jack and Shelley Blais. Overall event proceeds also will be matched dollar-for-dollar by B. Thomas Golisano through Golisano's $20 million matching grant challenge to help build the new Children's Hospital on the grounds of HealthPark Medical Center in south Lee County.

The new state-of-the-art pediatric medical facility will provide new and expanded specialty and sub-specialty health care services for children from Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties.
