Douglas S. Dietrich

Douglas S. Dietrich, a Sanibel resident since 1988, after relocating from Upper Montclair, N.J., passed away recently. He was 70 years old.

Doug was born on Nov. 11, 1942. in Lansing, Mich. He has been a devoted husband of Kate Dietrich for 45 years.

Doug's loving family of two children; son Sim Dietrich and his wife Anna, (predeceased) by his daughter Sherry Caywood and grandchildren Luke, Ava and Rez.

Doug received an MBA from the Wharton School of Economics. He has been a member of Sanibel Captiva Kiwanis Club, a founding member of the Sanibel Bike Club and served as a committee member for the City of Sanibel on transportation and bike safety. He loved to travel, enjoyed the outdoors, including many biking adventures thru many European cities. He served the City of Sanibel on committees involving transportation and bike safety.

Doug was a distinguished member of Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, serving many years as treasurer and deacon. In lieu of flowers, contribution in his name can be made to: Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, 2050 Periwinkle Way.

A memorial service will be announced.
