September is the time of year on the islands when things tend to slow down, marking the end of summer months and reminding us of the approaching season.
Why not take advantage of this down time to catch up on a few projects?
The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum plans to do just that by taking the time to do some much needed renovations.
Exterior of the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum building to be renovated inside.
Beginning on Sept. 21, and lasting through Oct. 4, the Shell Museum will be closed to visitors. The work scheduled includes some major reconstruction to the front lobby and the Museum Store, including a new acoustical ceiling, and new windows and front doors that meet the current wind mitigation standards.
There also will be some updates to the electrical fixtures including new lighting, switches and outlets, and alarm system.
Once construction is completed, stop by the museum to see the new changes.
