The Sanibel School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) held its Welcome Back Coffee event earlier this month. The school welcomed 58 total new families, including 36 new Kindergarten families. It was a casual event where new and returning parents were able to interact, ask questions, and gather information.
"Dropping your child off to school for the first time or even to a new school can be an emotional experience. We invited new and seasoned parents to join us for coffee and pastries after dropping their children off in their classrooms to help ease their new journey," said PTA President Denise McKee.
The PTA hosts many events during the school year to provide social and enriching experiences for the school community. The money that the PTA generates from their various events, including The Seahorse Festival, goes to the school in the form of classroom supplies, software, assemblies, ink, and supports the school's academic teams.
There are a number of PTA events scheduled at the end of this month and into September:
- "Around The World" Family Fun Night Potluck is on Friday, Aug. 23 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the School Cafetorium and Rec Center.
- The monthly PTA meeting is on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the school media center. It's open to all Sanibel School parents. Childcare provided along with pizza and movie.
- On Saturday, Sept. 7th from 7-11 p.m., the PTA is hosting a Parent Prom with an "Animal House" theme at the Dune's Golf & Tennis Club. Must be 21 or older to attend
