Sanibel roadways and paths are undergoing several improvement projects to be completed before seasonal residents return. Crews were busy this week on West Gulf Drive cleaning up debris before the second and final coat of asphalt is laid from Tarpon Bay Road to the west end. The annual street resurfacing project contract amount of $674,979 includes paving Junonia Street, Oliva Street and the access road to the Sanibel School ball fields. Crews also are making minor repairs to the shared use paths around the island as well as general widening and improving Periwinkle Way east of Causeway Boulevard to the Lighthouse Beach parking.
