They go by many names: Granny and Grandma, Oma and Nana, Pop and Papa, Grandpa and Granddad. But, the one thing many of them have in common is a love for their grandchildren.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ will honor grandparents at its annual Grandparents Sunday Celebration. During the Worship Service at 10 a.m., grandparents and their grandchildren will be recognized. The service will focus on the great love and relationships that exist among two generations.

The service will include puppets and a sermon by the Rev. Dr. John H. Danner, senior pastor, as well as special music.

Following the service, a special luncheon will be held in Fellowship Hall, which is free to all. The meal will feature foods loved by young and old alike. Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish, but anyone is free to attend with or without.

Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ is located at 2050 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel Island. For further information, visit the church website at, or call the church office at 472-0497.
