Pirates once again will invade the docks beside Matanzas Pass on Fort Myers Beach for the 8th annual Pirate Fest the weekend of Oct. 11-13.
Swashbucklers of all ages are invited to put on their best pirate gear and join in the plunder all weekend long beginning Friday evening and continuing through Sunday evening with entertainment fun and prizes!
This year the festival highlights live music, events and acts from the likes of The Craic (pirate music), Arrr Inc. and the Skeleton Crew (Family fun theatre), Pyrate Magyic (Magic Show), a live sea battle on the waters of Fort Myers Beach, real cannons, pirate ship rides on the Black Duck, live mermaids, a Pirate's Ball and many other pirate groups, both onstage, and interacting with the crowd on the streets of Old San Carlos Boulevard.
Admittance is free to all events, excluding the Pirate's Ball and rides on the Black Duck Pirate Ship.
For the more devious pirates and wenches of age, attendees are invited to purchase a Pub-n-Grub coupon book which includes great drink and food specials from area restaurants and bars. These coupons are good through October if ye can't use 'em all in one night.
Capping off Saturday night, the Pirate's Ball is sponsored by and hosted at Nervous Nellies with the pirate costume contest held at the event. Bring your first mate or mateys and win great prizes. Advanced tickets are available online and if you need a place to rest ye head at the end of the night, local hotels and accommodations have great deals and weekend specials.
Information about the event, including advance ticket purchase, schedule, accommodations and sponsor information can be found at www.pollotropicalpiratefest.com.
Volunteer groups and individuals are welcome and encouraged as well as businesses interested in sponsorship placement.
