David Michael Jones, 48, formerly of Montclair, N.J., and current resident of Denver and Pine, Colo., and Sanibel, Fla., died suddenly on Sept. 22, 2013.
He was born Dec. 12, 1964, at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, N.J. He attended Montclair Kimberly Academy and graduated from Newark Academy, Livingston, N.J., in 1983. He attended Berkshire Prep School in Sheffield, Mass., Class of 1984, and graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., in 1988 with a major in economics and a minor in Biology.
He was active in sports including ice hockey and lacrosse in all schools. David moved to Denver in 1989 and became a highly successful real estate investor and developer. Subsequently, David became co-owner with his parents and CEO of Crystal Lake Resort which he created in Pine, Colo. CLR hosts special events, a B&B and a fly fishing club as well as Rivers Run Homeowners Association. He donated rooms and food to many displaced neighbors during the fires in the area and hosted the "hot shot" firemen on the property for several weeks.

He is survived by his parents, Dr. David and Becky Jones, his brother Stephen and nephew Josh, and sister Jennifer, brother-in-law Todd Ladda and niece Caitlin, and nephew Dylan Ladda and his dog, Drake.
He loved fly fishing, skiing, mountain climbing, ice hockey and biking. We profoundly grieve and are deeply saddened by David's passing and will miss his brilliant intellect, sensitive and caring soul, creativity, leadership and loving relationships with his family and friends. He was the "wind beneath our wings." May he rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service was held at Crystal Lake Resort on Oct. 26 on the patio next to the clubhouse. Memorial donations can be made in David's name to the Berkshire School, Newark Academy or Hamilton College.
