A Cape Coral man accused in a fatal hit-and-run accident remained behind bars Tuesday.

Frank Alexander Pizzurro, 41, was arrested and charged Oct. 31 with one count of hit and run fail to remain at crash involve death in the death of Juan Aranda, 61, of Fort Myers, according to records.

He remains at the Lee County Jail without bond.

Attorney Penelope Michalakis is representing Pizzurro. She did not return a message seeking comment on the case.

At 1:41 a.m., Oct. 20, the Fort Myers Police Department received a call about a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in the 5100 block of Cleveland Avenue. Arriving officers discovered Aranda lying in the middle of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Witnesses described the suspect's vehicle as a small white pickup truck or contractor's style type of work vehicle. They stated that the vehicle did not have a tailgate on the back.

Police believed that the truck had damage to its front to include a broken headlight.

On Oct. 22, police located the alleged truck at 3304 Skyline Blvd. Officials reported that the vehicle was towed to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for safekeeping.

The investigation led to Pizzurro, and he was taken into custody.

Pizzurro has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 2.
