Find Waldo Local helps to support Shop Local movement on-island

June 29, 2018
Island Reporter, Captiva Current, Sanibel-Captiva Islander

Where's Waldo? The iconic children's book character in the red-and-white-striped shirt and black-rimmed specs will be visiting 25 Sanibel businesses throughout the island community in July.

Find Waldo Local is a summer vacation activity, as well as a way to support local businesses and the Shop Local movement on-island, including Bailey's General Store, Sanibel Deli & Coffee Factory, The Pecking Order and more.

The community can pick up a "Find Waldo Local in Sanibel!" passport, which contains the names of all the participating locations, at MacIntosh Books and Paper on Sanibel. The passport gets stamped or signed at each location when Waldo it spotted. Those who collect 20 or more stamps or signatures will be entered into a grand-prize drawing on July 31; the top prize is an eight-volume set of Waldo books.

In addition to the hunt, Waldo and his friends have each dropped a precious item at MacIntosh Books and Paper. Waldo's traveling companions include Wenda, Woof, Wizard Whitebeard, and Odlaw.

There is no charge to participate in the activity.

MacIntosh Books and Paper is at 2330 Palm Ridge Road.
