City receives all clear that prescribed burn is complete on Sanibel

The city of Sanibel has received notification from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge that the prescribed burn is complete at the Botanical Site.

The city has been given the all clear, officials reported on July 17.

The site of the burn was monitored overnight and will continue to be monitored for the next several days. Occasional smoke may be seen from the burned area for several days.

The Rabbit Road Shared Use Path remains closed to the public at this time. The public is asked to adhere to all signs and road-trail closures until further notice.
