Family Storytime

Bailey Homestead: Making the Land Work

A walking tour of the Bailey Homestead Preserve from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. blends SCCF's mission-driven work on the historic property, the history of the land itself and some stories about the Bailey family. Cost is $5 for non-members. Meet at the Conservation Gateway Kiosk at the head of the Shipley Trail, at 3333 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel. For information, call 239-472-2329.

Annual Back to School Bash

Sanibel Community Church's H2O Student Ministries will hold its annual Back to School Bash from 5 to 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at 1740 Periwinkle Way. Free and open to middle and high school students, there will be a giant inflatable obstacle course, Velcro wall, gladiator jousting, photo booth, tacos in a bag and booth from Teen Challenge, as well as ice cream from Joey's Custard. Turtle Tracks

Learn about the life cycles and habits of the sea turtles and shorebirds that nest on Sanibel beaches, SCCF's monitoring activities and what it is doing to protect them from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel. Farmers Market

Shell Point Retirement Community will host a Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Center Court at The Woodlands, at 15101 Shell Point Blvd., Fort Myers. Take a leisurely stroll while shopping for locally-grown produce, freshly-caught seafood, homemade baked goods, Brisket Brothers pulled pork, all natural soaps and lotions, and more. Cash only. Book Signing

MacIntosh Books and Paper will host a book signing and meet-and-greet with Jennifer Schiff from 3 to 5 p.m. at 2330 Palm Ridge Road, Sanibel. Schiff is the local author of the Sanibel Island Mystery Series, which consists of "A Shell of a Problem" and her most recent "Something Fishy." Light refreshments will be available. Shell Crafters

Shell Crafting Class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Make flower figures or animals. Limited class size; first come first served. All-Levels Yoga

Use of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), mudra, philosophy, meditation and guided relaxation techniques. Instructor is Dr. Susan Pataky.
