Barry Litofsky

Barry Litofsky, a 20+ year resident of Sanibel, passed away on January 30, 2019 at the age of 77.

Mr. Litofsky grew up in Brooklyn and has degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from New York University, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania where got his PhD. He lived in New Jersey where he raised his family and worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories for 35 years. Mr. Litofsky was an Eagle Scout, used to race sailboats, and was a private pilot.

Barry and his late wife, Francine, loved Sanibel. They had vacationed on the island in a timeshare for decades and eventually decided to retire on the island. They adored Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, where Mr. Litofsky volunteered as well as worked for Tarpon Bay Explorers. Mr. Litofsky's hobbies included travel, volleyball, bird watching, scuba diving, sailing, and especially spending time with his extended family. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Ding Darling Wildlife Society.

Mr. Litofsky is survived by his sons Jonathan and Brian, his sister Harriet, and his grandchildren Justin, Jason, Madelyn, and Jacob.
