The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, presents the following:

Colorful Sips

Sissi Janku will host a beginners-to-advanced acrylic painting class on April 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. Bring your own snacks and beverages. Cost is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.

Hands-on Cooking

Resident Chef Jarred Harris will teach a hands-on cooking class on April 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. The menu will feature: broccoli cheddar and brown rice cakes with asparagus pate, mushroom leek and sun-dried tomato pie and rhubarb sorbet and pistachio brittle. Cost is $50 for members and $60 for guests.

Music at the House

The Southwest Florida Symphony will present "Mozart in Paradise" on April 5 at 7:30 p.m. Featuring pianist Alexandra Carlson and Maestro Nir Kabaretti, the program will include Mozart's Don Giovanni Overture, Symphony No. 41, also known as the Jupiter Symphony, and his Piano Concerto, with guest artist Alexandra Carlson. Tickets are $39.

Climate Crisis Lecture

Ariel Hoover, with the Climate Reality Leadership Corps and Climate Reality Sanibel-Fort Myers group, will present "Challenges and Solutions to Solve the Climate Crisis: How climate change threatens all that we love through challenges to our food, water and health and how we can mitigate them" on April 4 at 7 p.m. She will explain the causes of climate change and discuss its impact on food, water and health and what can be done about it A former public school teacher and instructor at Tufts University, Hoover recently returned from her second Climate Reality Leadership Training in Atlanta.

Dine and Design Workshop

A Dine and Design Workshop will take place on April 15 from noon to 2 p.m. Resident Chef Jarred Harris will prepare lunch, followed by a workshop with the Sanibel design team of Decorating Den Interiors. The topic will be "Suite Dreams." Bring a photo of your design challenge and the staff will offer solutions. There will also be door prizes and studio sample displays. Cost is $30. Registration required by April 8.

Jenny Li Ciccone will host her series, "Emotional Freedom Techniques Tapping," on April 9 from 1 p.m. Cost is $30 for members and $35 for guests.

Community Shredding Day

A Community Shredding Day will be held on April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon in the north lot, across the street from the building. Shred documents, credit card receipts, checks, CD/DVD and more. Remove large paperclips and binder clips; staples and small paper clips can stay. Those bringing more than four boxes or bags for disposal need to call ahead. Cost is $5 per box or bag. Enter via the driveway next to Dunlop Road and exit via the driveway nearest to the Sanibel Bean.

Kids Cooking

Kids Cooking is held on the first Monday of each month, except March, from October through May from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Resident Chief Jarred Harris will teach fundamental nutritional cooking skills and help students develop basic kitchen awareness and food preparation. The culturally-based menus will stress healthy and nutritious whole foods. Students will make the items, then sit down for a meal together. Cost is $50 per class; some scholarships will be available due to sponsorships by the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs and private citizens. Prepaid registration with required paperwork is encouraged. The following class menus are planned:

The Community House is selling honey harvested from its hive, along with other products made by Resident Chef Jarred Harris.
