A Cape Coral man was shot multiple times at a southeast Cape duplex on Monday.

Police arrived at the 1013 Southeast 24th Avenue home around 3:30 p.m. in response to a call of multiple shots fired and a person down.

According to a Cape Coral Police Department incident report, arriving officers found the wounded victim outside the back of the home, lying on a table.

Witnesses told officers three or four individuals, in a Honda sedan, were responsible for the shooting.

The witnesses said they did not know who the people were or why they shot the victim, but later said the incident may have been drug-related, the report states.

Officers spoke to several witnesses and were able to obtain video footage.

The victim, who had not been identified as of press tie, was transported to the hospital. His condition could not be determined late Tuesday afternoon.

Due to children being present on the scene, the Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
