City, police offer tips to keep students safe

The city of Sanibel reported that classes resumed on Aug. 12 at The Sanibel Sea School.

The community is being asked to do its part to help keep the students safe.

- The Sanibel Police Department reminds all drivers to be cautious and remember to stop to allow the bus drivers to pick up and discharge the children in a safe manner.

- Pay close attention to children waiting for buses and walking and biking on local streets and driveways.

- Vehicles in both directions where there is no median must stop when the school bus has its red lights on and the stop sign is lowered.

- The speed limit in the school zone is 20 miles per hour.
