Sanibel Director of Community Services Keith Williams answers questions from Kiwanis members.

- A new online permitting system, coming this spring, which will streamline the application process.

- A new system for licensing and regulating rentals of private homes, which will prevent proliferation of non-complying short term rentals. It will enforce Sanibel's requirement that private home rentals be for a minimum of four weeks.

- Emergency beach repairs, being made in the Santiva area near the intersection of San Cap Road and Pine Avenue, where severe beach erosion has been encroaching on the San Cap roadway.

- A new, improved walkover bridge at the entrance to Bowman's Beach, paid for with funds received from Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

- An upcoming plan for dredging of the canal entry point at Sanibel Marina.

- Continued progress of improvements to the Donax Water Treatment Facility, which when completed will increase its capacity and improve the quality of treated water released from the plant. Completion of this project is expected in early 2021.
