Climate Presentation

Ariel Hoover, chair of the Lee County Climate Reality Project, will present "How Does Climate Change Affect Our Food Supply?" today, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. A former public school teacher at Tufts University in a special program for Chinese students, she was trained by the Climate Reality Project on the many aspects of climate change and is part of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps.

All-Level Yoga

All-Level Yoga will be held on Jan. 23 from 10 to 11 a.m. with instructor Dr. Susan Pataky, of Sanibel Yoga. Open to beginners and those with and level of experience. Cost is $18 for members and $20 for non-members; class packages available. For information, call 239-738-3856.

Beginning Soft Pastel

Beginning Soft Pastel with Donna Filomio will be held on Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn about the materials and basic techniques of pastel painting and complete a Sanibel-themed painting. Cost is $55 for members and $65 for non-members.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga will be held on Jan. 23 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with instructor Dr. Susan Pataky, of Sanibel Yoga. Designed for those who want or need a slower approach to yoga. Cost is $18 for members and $20 for non-members; class packages available. For information, call 239-738-3856.

Audubon Lecture

The Sanibel-Captiva Audubon Society will host a lecture, "Tracking Shorebirds Through Banding," on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. Suggested $10 donation per attendee, with proceeds to promote conservation on Sanibel and in Florida. The Sprout Queen

Christine "The Sprout Queen" will educate on how food is medicine and sprout is queen from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Seeds and sprout supplies available for purchase.

Stories for Grownups

Dr. Sidney B. Simon will host Stories for Grownups on Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. A known storyteller on the islands, he held his first event in 2002 at the Sanibel Public Library. Simon will highlight stories from the first year on up through 2019. Free and open to the public.

Go Cabaret

Gulfshore Opera Professional Artists in Residence will perform in cabaret style with a live jazz trio on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. Enjoy a fun and casual evening of nostalgic hits from the '40s, '50s and '60s. From Broadway to jazz standards, recognize tunes from Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Gershwin and others. For information or tickets, visit www.gulfshoreopera.org.

Monday Current Events

Shell Crafters

Shell Crafting Class will be held on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make flower figures or animals. Limited class size; first come first served. Children must be accompanied by an adult due to the complexity/dexterity required.

Art Journaling

Art Journaling with Paulette Boudreau will take place on Jan. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. She will guide participants through basic warm-up exercises, then a four-page spread will be created through art prompts and different artistic techniques. Cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.

Watercolors, Shells

Letting Loose With Watercolors & Shells will be held on Jan. 28 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Anita Force Marshall. For beginners and intermediates, the class puts a different twist on shells and recreating their image with watercolors. Open to ages 12 and older. Cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Painting with Friends

Painting with Friends will take place on Jan. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $10. Artists of all levels of expertise are welcome, as long as they bring their own supplies and are able to paint independently.
